Maintenance And Care of Water Purifiers
(A) Replacement of filter cartridges
- The importance of regular replacement
- Filter is the core component of the water purifier, with the increase in the use of time, the filter will gradually be blocked by impurities, the filtration effect will decline. For example, the activated carbon cartridge in the adsorption of a certain amount of organic matter and odor, its adsorption capacity will weaken.
- If you do not replace the cartridge in time, not only can not effectively purify water, but also may lead to bacterial growth on the cartridge, but pollute the water. Different types of cartridges have different replacement cycles, general microfiltration cartridge 3 – 6 months to replace once, ultrafiltration cartridge 6 – 12 months to replace once, reverse osmosis cartridge 1 – 2 years to replace once, the activated carbon cartridge 3 – 6 months to replace once, but the specific need to be adjusted according to the quality of water and use.
- Precautions for replacing filter cartridge
- When replacing the filter cartridge, first of all, close the water inlet valve of the water purifier and empty the water in the water purifier.
- Then carefully disassemble the old cartridge according to the instructions, taking care not to damage other parts of the water purifier.
- When installing the new cartridge, make sure it is installed correctly and sealed well to prevent leakage. Some high-end water purifiers will have cartridge replacement tips, users can change the cartridge in time according to the prompts.

(ii) Regular cleaning
- Shell cleaning
- Regular cleaning of the shell of the water purifier, you can use a clean damp cloth to wipe, keep the appearance of the water purifier neat. For some places that are prone to dust, you can use a mild detergent to clean, but be careful not to let the detergent enter the interior of the water purifier.
- Internal cleaning (some self-cleaning water purifiers)
- For some water purifiers that can be cleaned by yourself, such as some simple microfiltration or ultrafiltration water purifiers, you can follow the instructions to rinse its interior regularly.
(iii) Precautions
- Avoid direct sunlight
- The water purifier should be placed in a place that avoids direct sunlight, as the ultraviolet rays in sunlight may accelerate the aging of the plastic parts and may also affect the performance of the filter cartridge. Prolonged exposure to sunlight may cause discoloration and deformation of the water purifier shell, affecting its normal use.
- Pay attention to the water temperature
- The normal working water temperature of the water purifier generally has a certain range, usually between 5 – 38 ℃. If the water temperature is too high or too low, it may affect the filtration effect and service life of the water purifier. For example, in cold winter months, if proper insulation measures are not taken, the water inside the water purifier may freeze, resulting in damage to the water purifier.
